About me...

Hello, thanks for coming here to visit my photos and thoughts.

Art. With a degree in Fine Arts and after a brief attempt at a pottery shop in New York state in my college years, I decided I needed to get a real job and left the art world for a while. I also left my native New Jersey and moved to beautiful Colorado. In recent years, the limitless possibilities of art and technology have made digital photography a fascinating medium for me. The altered bw/color nature images on this web site have been with me for a long time, but recently became achievable with the flexibility of graphic design.

Images in the Altered Landscapes series have appeared in many Colorado area art shows. Windows in the Through the Window series have been in several galleries around Colorado, including Vail, Evergreen and Georgetown. Other exhibits that have appeared on this web site: South Africa, Rock and Ruins (US southwest), Big Snow (a Colorado blizzard) and more.

Computers. Having a great love of books, I went to work for the Denver Public Library. During my years there, I somehow became the computer expert. I established the library's first IT department, managed a large computer system that supported 22 libraries, trained the staff in the early days of library computing.

With some friends, I began a computer consulting group to assist small businesses in the exciting new uses of computers. The company grew over ten years, encompassing networking, application development and training seminars in a wide variety of computer skills. My time was spent in application design, training and people management.

Education. After I sold my consulting business (and for a few years before), I taught computer science topics as an adjunct faculty member at Arapahoe Community College, and worked as a consultant.

When my husband died and my sons left home to pursue their own lives, I embarked on a new adventure - in computers, education, travel and art - all at once! I taught high school technology in an American international school in Guatemala City for three years, then taught English in a language school in Prague in the Czech Republic for almost two years. I'm now teaching English in Japan and exploring Asia, another exciting and different world. See Guatemala Journal on this web site for visual and written impressions of that beautiful country, the Praha Journal (or Prague Blog) for photos and stories of my European years, Japan Journal for my most recent experiences and Wanderings for other recent travels.

Community. I've lived for many years in Georgetown, Colorado, a small town high in the Rocky Mountains at 8,500 ft. altitude. Georgetown is a lovingly preserved old mining town, with charming Victorian buildings and an active community of interesting people.

In this setting, I have been on the board of directors of Historic Georgetown Inc. for which I am still webmaster (www.historicgeorgetown.org), elected to town council, served on library board, board for a wilderness school, town planning commission, victims assistance counselor and designed websites for the museums, town and county. This town has been the inspiration for the Through the Window series.
